The best AI agencies and AI partners in the Netherlands (2026): which type suits you?
Looking for the best AI agency or AI partner in the Netherlands? There are five types, and they are good at very different things. A comparison, the criteria that matter and the questions to ask before you sign.
Short answer
The best AI agency depends on what you want to achieve. In the Netherlands there are roughly five types of AI partner: strategy consultancies, AI build agencies, ERP and IT partners with an AI practice, platform vendors and specialist AI coworker providers such as AgentsLab. Choose a consultancy for strategy and governance, a build agency for a unique custom product, and for a back-office process that has to run in production in your ERP, a party that delivers and operates it as a service.
A note on transparency: this piece was written by AgentsLab, and AgentsLab is one of the companies you will meet in this market. So we do not rank competitors. Instead we compare types of partner on what they do well and what to watch for, so you can place any company you speak to yourself.
Why types tell you more than rankings
Top-ten lists of AI agencies are usually sponsored, quickly outdated or based on who has the nicest website. The Dutch AI market has filled up in two years: almost every digital agency, ERP partner and consultancy now offers AI. Names change, but the types of partner and their strengths and weaknesses are remarkably stable.
The five types of AI partner compared
| Type of partner | Strong at | Watch out for | Choose this if |
|---|---|---|---|
| Strategy consultancy | AI strategy, governance, board-level business cases | Build and operations often outsourced, high day rates | You first need direction and buy-in |
| AI build agency | Custom work, prototypes, bespoke apps and models | After delivery you own and maintain it | You want a unique product built |
| ERP or IT partner with an AI practice | Knowledge of your ERP and its configuration | AI is often a new service next to the core business | Your partner already knows your systems inside out |
| Platform vendor | Broad platform, scale and ecosystem | You still need someone to build | Your own team or partner will build |
| AI coworker provider | A concrete back-office process in production, operations included | Less suited to customer chat and marketing | You want to hand over a process, not manage a project |
Strategy consultancy
The large advisory firms and strategy houses help with the question of where AI pays off most in your organisation, how to govern it and how to bring people along. Strong at board level and on governance, for example around the EU AI Act. Building and operating is often passed on to other parties, so ask who actually puts something into production after the advice.
AI build agency
Build agencies make custom work: a bespoke app, a prototype, a model for a specific use. Ideal if you want something unique that exists nowhere else. The risk comes after delivery. AI solutions degrade quietly when models, documents or your ERP change, and then you own something you have to understand and maintain yourself.
ERP or IT partner with an AI practice
Your existing implementation partner knows your configuration and your processes, and that is worth a lot. Do ask how many AI processes they already run in production and who handles operations. More and more ERP partners therefore team up with a specialist AI platform: they bring the ERP knowledge, the platform brings the agents.
Platform vendor
Microsoft, Salesforce, Google and UiPath supply the platforms that agents are built on. They offer scale and a large ecosystem, but they usually do not build your agent themselves. So you need your own team or an implementation partner.

This type of company delivers not a project but a working process: an AI coworker that handles, for example, orders, purchase invoices or service tickets from start to finish in your ERP, with operations after go-live included. AgentsLab is one of them. Strong when you want to hand over a concrete back-office process. Less suited if you are mainly after a chatbot, a marketing tool or an AI strategy.
Seven criteria for assessing an AI partner
- Production, not pilots: how many processes have been in production for more than a year, and can you call one of those customers?
- Inside your systems: does the solution work in your existing ERP, or does it add another screen your team has to keep up with?
- Human in the loop: what happens when the AI is not sure? If the answer is guessing, end the conversation.
- Demonstrable security: an independent certification such as ISO 27001 and data processing within the EU, not just a promise.
- Pricing model: hours billed as they come put the risk on you, a fixed price per process puts it on the vendor.
- Operations after go-live: who monitors performance, and what does that cost?
- Model independence: what happens if the model or build tool the solution runs on disappears?
That last one is not theoretical. OpenAI, for example, has announced that its visual Agent Builder will be retired on 30 November 2026. A partner that treats the model as a replaceable component has a short and boring answer to that question. Boring is good here.

AgentsLab is a Dutch AI company, founded in Amsterdam in 2024, that provides AI coworkers for the back office. An AI coworker runs a process from start to finish inside the ERP you already have: SAP, AFAS, Exact, Dynamics 365, Odoo or Bouwworks. AgentsLab is ISO 27001 certified, processes data within the EU, has more than twenty customers in production and works with a national network of implementation partners. An AI coworker is typically live within eight weeks.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best AI agency in the Netherlands?
No single AI agency is best for every question. A consultancy suits AI strategy and governance, an AI build agency suits custom work, an ERP partner with an AI practice suits AI within your existing ERP setup, and an AI coworker provider such as AgentsLab suits a back-office process that has to run in production.
What is the difference between an AI agency and an AI platform?
An AI agency supplies people and projects: they build something for you. An AI platform supplies software that agents run on. Some companies combine both, such as AgentsLab, which has its own platform and delivers and operates the AI coworker as a service.
What does an AI agency cost?
It varies widely. Focus on the pricing model: hours billed as they come put the risk of overruns on you, a fixed price per process puts it on the vendor. Also ask what operations and model updates cost after go-live, because they are not optional extras.
How do you recognise a good AI agency?
By boring evidence: processes running in production for more than a year, reference customers you are allowed to call, a clear operations story and a willingness to say what cannot be done.
Does an AI partner need ISO 27001 certification?
It is not a legal requirement, but once an outside party gets access to your books, independently audited security is a strong signal. It also saves time in the supplier assessment by your own IT and security team.
