Traceability and order picking in Exact Globe: where the manual work hides
Exact Globe can track batches and serial numbers and generate pick lists. Yet traceability and order picking still cost many warehouses a lot of manual work. Where that work sits and how an AI coworker takes it over.
What Exact Globe does out of the box
Exact Globe has everything it needs to track goods. Items can be managed by batch number or serial number, with expiry date and origin. On receipt and delivery you record which batch goes where, so that in a recall you can trace which customers received which batch. For outbound delivery, Globe generates pick lists based on open sales orders.
So the functionality is there. The bottleneck is the data that has to go into it.
Where traceability breaks down
- Batch numbers and expiry dates are printed on the supplier's packing slip or certificate, not in a file Globe can import.
- Certificates of analysis and declarations of conformity arrive as PDFs by email and get filed separately, not linked to the batch.
- With partial deliveries and mixed pallets, someone has to work out which batch belongs to which order line.
- During an audit or recall, the chain turns out to be broken in one spot because a registration was missing.
Traceability is only as strong as its weakest registration. And the weakest registration is usually the manual one.
What an AI coworker does on the inbound side
An AI coworker reads packing slips, delivery documents and certificates as soon as they arrive. It extracts item, quantity, batch number and expiry date for each line, compares them with the purchase order in Exact Globe and stages the receipt with the correct batch details. The certificate is linked to the batch, so it can be found straight away during an audit.
If a batch number is missing or the expiry date falls short of your requirements, the receipt does not quietly go through. The agent flags it and your warehouse staff or quality department decides.
Order picking: from sales order to shipment
On the outbound side, picking depends directly on the quality of your orders. A pick list is only as good as the sales order behind it. If the order holds the wrong items, units or delivery address, the warehouse picks the wrong thing, however good the picking process is.
An AI coworker makes sure orders are in Exact Globe correctly and on time, so the pick lists are right in the morning. For batch-managed items, the agent can check in advance whether there is enough stock of a batch that meets the customer's requirements, such as a minimum remaining shelf life. After picking, it processes the deviations: an item that could not be found, a substitute batch, a partial delivery that needs recording as a backorder.

Exact Globe usually runs on-premise or in a private cloud. An AI coworker works through the integration options Exact provides for it, with its own user and only the permissions its task requires. Your warehouse gets no extra screen: people keep working in Globe and with their own scanners.
What it delivers
- A closed chain from supplier to customer, without gaps in the registration.
- Certificates linked directly to the batch, easy to retrieve during an audit or complaint.
- Pick lists based on correct orders, with fewer errors at dispatch.
- Deviations processed the same day, not at the end of the week.
